Hail isn’t a daily event here, but our summer thunderstorms do produce it. When it hits, the damage is easy to miss: hairline cracks in tile, shingles that lost their granules in small bruised spots, and dents in metal flashing and vents.
The trouble is that this kind of damage often doesn’t leak right away. A bruised shingle or a cracked tile lets the sun and the next storms work on the underlayment beneath, and the leak shows up months later, long after anyone connects it to the hail.
After a hailstorm, a careful inspection tells you what was actually damaged. We get on the roof, check each surface, photograph what we find, and tell you straight whether it’s a few repairs or a bigger problem.

Small cracks, chips, or spider-web fractures, often clustered on the side facing the storm.
Dark, soft spots where granules were knocked off and the asphalt is exposed.
Dings in vents, flashing, gutters, AC fins, and metal roof panels.
A sudden heavy load of grit after a storm means shingles lost their protective layer.
Dented cars, torn screens, or damaged patio furniture are a clue the roof was hit too.
Hail can open small entry points that leak in later storms.

Yes. It isn’t frequent, but strong summer thunderstorms can produce hail large enough to crack tile, bruise shingles, and dent metal.
From the ground it’s often hard to tell. Clues include dented gutters, vents, or cars, and grit in the gutters. The only way to know for sure is a close inspection of the roof surface.
Not always. Cracked tile and bruised shingles can let the underlayment wear out over the following months, so leaks may show up later. That’s why an inspection after a hailstorm is worth it.
Usually, yes, if the damage is limited and the underlayment is sound. If hail cracked tile across much of the roof, a larger repair or replacement may make more sense.
Cosmetic dents in metal don’t always affect how it sheds water, but damage at seams, flashing, or fasteners can. We check for both and tell you which you have.
Be careful. Look for a licensed local contractor — you can verify a Florida license online — and someone who will still be around to stand behind the work.
